Enshrouded Sparkworks Guide: Levers, Pressure Plates and Logic Gates

Sparkworks is the new logic system arriving with Enshrouded 1.0 on October 15, 2026. It connects inputs (levers, pressure plates, triggers) to outputs (doors, trapdoors, traps, lightning strikes, released water, enemy spawns) so a base can become a puzzle, a trap course or a complete custom dungeon. Because it hooks into Adventure Sharing, other players can visit what you build.

What Sparkworks is

Enshrouded has always been a building game, but bases were static. Sparkworks adds a logic layer on top of building: you place a trigger, you place something that should react, and you wire the two together. A 2D graph editor โ€” confirmed by name in the official 1.0.0.0 changelog โ€” shows every input and output, and visualises the connections and rules you set up, so the result is a mechanism. Once mechanisms exist, players can chain them into traps, puzzles, enemy encounters, parkour challenges and arenas, then publish the whole world through Adventure Sharing for others to play.

Inputs (what can trigger it)

InputBehaviour
LeverManual switch โ€” pull it to fire the connected action.
Pressure plateFires when a player steps on it, so it can be hidden in a corridor or floor.
Trigger volumeFires when another player enters an area, which is what makes "walk into the room and something happens" setups possible.

Inputs can be combined rather than used one at a time โ€” that is where Clocks and logic gates come in, letting you require conditions to be true together or in a specific order.

Outputs (what can happen)

OutputUse
DoorsOpen or close on trigger โ€” the classic "lever opens the gate" puzzle.
TrapdoorsDrop a floor section under someone's feet.
TrapsArmed by a plate, fired at whoever triggers it.
Lightning strikesEnvironmental damage in an outdoor or open-roof space.
Released waterFlood a section โ€” useful for puzzles that gate progress.
Enemy spawnsTrigger creatures as part of an encounter, i.e. an actual fight you designed.

The parts: Switchboxes, Sparkworks Tool, Clocks

Switchbox

The connection point. You place switchboxes to link a trigger to the object it should control โ€” effectively the wiring hub of a mechanism.

Sparkworks Tool

The tool used to set up those connections. This is what turns a pile of props into a working contraption rather than a decorative build.

Clocks

Timed logic. Useful for sequences โ€” something opens, waits, then something else fires.

Logic gates

Conditional logic, so an action only happens when the conditions you set are met. This is the piece that makes real puzzles and multi-step dungeons possible.

Build your first mechanism

  1. Place a trigger. Start with a lever โ€” it is the easiest to test because you control when it fires.
  2. Place the object to control. A door is the clearest first target.
  3. Wire them with a Switchbox. Use the Sparkworks Tool to connect the lever to the door.
  4. Test it. Pull the lever and confirm the door responds before you add more parts.
  5. Swap the lever for a pressure plate. Now the mechanism fires from player movement instead of a manual action โ€” that single change is what turns a switch into a trap.
  6. Add a Clock or logic gate. Only once the basics work, add timing or conditions.

The staging matters: test one connection at a time. Most confusion around logic systems comes from wiring five things at once and not knowing which link is wrong.

Adventure Sharing and Share Codes

Sparkworks is designed to feed Enshrouded's existing Adventure Sharing feature, where players upload worlds for others to visit. With 1.0, mechanisms make it possible to publish:

On the discovery side you can browse Popular Adventures, filter by tags, enter a Share Code to jump straight to a specific world, and subscribe to favourites.

Note: cross-platform multiplayer is not available at 1.0 launch. Per the changelog, unlocking Flame level 11 raises the flame altar cap to 16 and lets flame altars push the Shroud back โ€” and the new Airborne Architect skill enables free-flying building, which pairs directly with Sparkworks.

FAQ

What is Sparkworks in Enshrouded?
A 1.0 logic system that links triggers such as levers and pressure plates to outcomes such as doors, traps and enemy spawns, using Switchboxes, the Sparkworks Tool, Clocks and logic gates.

Is Sparkworks paid DLC?
No. It ships with the free 1.0 full release. Enshrouded 1.0.0.0 is out now on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and NVIDIA GeForce Now; Early Access owners on PC do not need to buy the game again.

Can I make a dungeon with it?
Yes โ€” that is the point. Triggers, timer logic and enemy spawns are enough to build encounters; Adventure Sharing is how others play them.

Does Sparkworks work on servers?
The changelog does not restrict Sparkworks to single-player, and Adventure Sharing is cross-platform from launch โ€” PS5 players can share bases with PC players even though they cannot join PC dedicated servers. Keen has not published dedicated-server specifics.
